The Story

The infamous Streamline Moderne North Hollywood home of Grammy/Tony/Emmy- winning Hall of Fame songwriter and multimedia artist, Allee Willis, comes to life on steroids in the new Pop-Up book created in her honor. Willis Wonderland: The Legendary House of Atomic Kitsch highlights the marvel of Allee’s iconic home and its world-renowned collection of pop-culture kitsch.

Hillary CarlipWhen Hillary Carlip, award-winning multi-disciplinary artist, best-selling author/designer of six books, and visual artist with works in museums and notable private collections, was asked if she could be commissioned to design and produce a pop culture, architectural pop-up book for the Willis Wonderland Foundation, she said what she always has said in her life-long dedication to creativity in all forms—OF COURSE!

With her dear friend Allee guiding it all from above, Hillary dove in and not only designed and co-wrote the book, but also put together a top-notch international team including phenomenal illustrator Neal McCullough of Hand Drawn Creative (Ireland), paper engineer extraordinaire Mike Malkovas (Paris), and brilliant co-writer Trudi Roth.

Hillary is now obsessed, and excited to create more memorable, unique, joyful works for new commissions and clients with her House of Pop-Ups.

Wills Wonderland: The Legendary House of Atomic Kitsch Pop-Up Book is integral to the Foundation's goal of preserving Allee's unique legacy of singular artistry, bold vision, and infectious joie de vivre, and all proceeds from book sales will go to the foundation to help empower the next generation of artists.
